This unusual critter is a bunny harvestman. It lives in the South American country of Ecuador. Scientists think the black nubs on its body—which resemble a rabbit’s ears—scare off predators by making it look like a larger animal.

Harvestmen, also known as daddy longlegs, are a type of arachnid. This group of animals also includes spiders and scorpions. Even though harvestmen look like spiders, they have many differences, says arachnid expert Lauren Esposito. For instance, harvestmen have only two eyes, while spiders can have up to eight. And unlike many spiders, harvestmen don’t weave webs.

The animal is an example of how diverse arachnids are, Esposito says. “I find all arachnids are adorable!”
